Teeth Cleaning

Step 1: Determine degree of dental disease, i.e. Periodontal disease by doing brief exam.
Step 2: Perform pre-anesthetic blood test to evaluate organ function, check for anemia etc.
Step 3: Administer anesthetic agent by intravenous injection. This causes the pet to go to sleep.
Step 4: Place endotracheal tube and inflate cuff.
Step 5: Start oxygen and anesthetic gas.
Step 6: Place pulse oximeter for heart and oxygen saturation monitoring.
Step 7: Remove large calculus (tartar) from teeth.
Step 8: Scale the teeth with ultrasonic air driver scaler.
Step 9: Polish teeth with prophy cup and paste.
Step 10: Assist in anesthetic recovery of the pet and remove endotracheal tube after pet wakens.
